Apax snaps up Matchesfashion | News | Drapers

MatchesFashion.com is a London-based global luxury retailer for men and women, offering the work of more than 400 luxury brands like Gucci, Prada, Saint Laurent, Alexander McQueen, Burberry and Lanvin. The business operates online and via four London stores, and runs No.23, a private-shopping townhouse.

Head Office

The headquarter is located in the tallest skyscraper in the United Kingdom, The Shard.

In 2016, Matchesfashion relocated its London headquarters from Clapham Common to The Shard during the first half of the year, ahead of its international expansion push. They currently occupy 7th, 8th and 11th floors of The Shard with over 500 members of staff.

  • 2015 Own label RAEY launches for both men and women, Rachael Proud is Creative Director
  • 2015 MATCHESFASHION.COM launches a new fully responsive site across all devices
  • 2016 The head office relocates to London landmark The Shard
  • 2016 MATCHESFASHION.COM outlet store launches at Hackney Walk, London
  • 2016 Mobile App is launched
  • 2017 30th anniversary supported by In Residence events in New York, Paris, and Los Angeles
  • 2017 Social campaign #MFx30yearsandcounting
  • 2018 Open a new 20,000sq ft photo studio at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, London

In October 2017, Tom and Ruth Chapman sold a majority stake of Matchesfashion.com to private-equity funds managed by Apax Partners.
